Argentina: drone rules for inspection

Argentina's ANAC Resolution 550/2025 (in force 8 August 2025) repealed the old rules, including Res. 880/2019 and the May 2025 Res. 319/2025. It sets up a risk-based scheme: RAAC Part 100 (common requirements), Part 101 (Open) and Part 102 (Specific). Low-risk flights, such as rural or within visual range, fall under Open, with no prior authorisation or pilot licence but basic knowledge required. Urban, night and near-airport operations fall under Specific, which needs a risk assessment, prior authorisation, a licence, insurance and an operations manual. Numeric thresholds (weight, height, distance from people) sit in annexes that were not read and are unverified.

Main frameworkANAC Resolución 550/2025 (signed 7 August 2025; published in the Boletín Oficial No. 35724 on 8 August 2025 and in force that day). It approves RAAC Part 100 (2nd edition, general requirements for RPA/RPAS), RAAC Part 101 (Open category) and RAAC Part 102 (Specific category) as Annexes I-III, and renumbers the old Part 101 (balloons, kites, rockets) as Part 32. It repeals Res. 880/2019 and 885/2019, and also Res. 319/2025 (7 May 2025, which had already replaced Res. 880/2019 with a LAR-harmonised Part 100) and Res. 334/2025. Decreto 663/2024 (published 24 July 2024) approved a regulation for unmanned civil aviation, but its content was not read (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22). The annex texts themselves were not read (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
RegistrationPart 100 sets requirements common to all operators, including aircraft registration and operator identification. A law-firm summary says registration is not mandatory for Open-category operations, which conflicts with the government's description of Part 100. Thresholds and the exact rule were not checked in the annex text (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
Remote ID(not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
Pilot licensingOpen category (Part 101): no remote pilot licence is required, but operators must show basic knowledge of airspace and the rules, using free ANAC material. Specific category (Part 102): a remote pilot licence, an operations manual, insurance and, where applicable, an RPAS aerial-work operator certificate are required.
Risk categoriesA risk-based Open (Part 101) and Specific (Part 102) scheme. Resolution 550/2025 does not mention a Certified category. Open covers low-risk operations without prior authorisation, such as flights in rural areas or within the operator's visual line of sight. Specific covers urban, night, near-aerodrome and cargo operations, with an operational risk assessment, mitigations and prior ANAC authorisation. Weight and height thresholds were not read in the annexes (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
BVLOSBVLOS is not expressly addressed in the official summary. Since Open is limited to visual line of sight, BVLOS falls in the Specific category, which needs a risk assessment and ANAC authorisation (inferred; the annex text was not read (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)).
Night & over peopleNight operations are in the Specific category (Part 102) and need prior authorisation. Over-people and urban flights are also in Part 102. Distance thresholds were not read (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
Near structuresFlights near airports and in urban areas are Specific-category operations needing authorisation. No specific rule on structures, power lines or critical infrastructure was found (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
Indoor & confined(not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
Imaging & privacyPersonal data law (Ley 25.326) may apply (not verified against an official source, 2026-10-22)
Recent changes2024: Decreto 663/2024 approved a regulation for unmanned civil aviation (content not read). May 2025: Res. 319/2025 repealed Res. 880/2019 and introduced a LAR-harmonised Part 100. 8 August 2025: Res. 550/2025 replaced it with the Part 100/101/102 scheme (Open/Specific), in force on publication. The earlier draft entry's wording, 'a 2025 amendment to Res. 880/2019', is therefore wrong: Res. 880/2019 was repealed, not amended.
